Self-Motivation Author Unknown

Unless you are very, very lucky, you probably have to work at being self-motivated. Life is not easy and we have been programmed to expect other people to make our circumstances conducive to being happy. We often base our ability to be happy on what we possess or on how other people treat us. The frightening and exciting reality is that you, and only you, are responsible and accountable for your own happiness. The more self-motivated you are, the easier it is to experience happiness and a sense of personal success. Being self-motivated means you are in control of your life and your own destiny. It does not mean that you will never experience pain or adversity, nor does it mean that you will never make mistakes. Being self-motivated means that you “push your own buttons;” and it means that you can survive and even be happy when circumstances are difficult or “impossible” to accept or deal with. When you are self-motivated, you use skills that enable you to lead a productive and satisfying life. These are abilities necessary for being happy and self-fulfilled. The good news is that we are never to old to learn how to be happy. Always continue to climb. It is possible for you to do whatever you choose if you first get to know who you are and are willing to work with a power that is greater than ourselves to do it. Do it with enthusiasm, which comes from the Greek en, meaning in, and theos meaning God. If you are enthusiastic, you are “in God” or “God is within” … you are doing what God made you to do and being what God made you to be. Everything you need you already have. You are complete right now. You are a whole, total person, not an apprentice person on the way to some place else. Your completeness must be understood by you and experienced in your thoughts as your own personal reality.
